I like my time at the gym; it’s one hour when I can just think through the day and not be interrupted by co-worker, the phone, etc.
I run every morning for 30 minutes When I get on the treadmill, I watch TV or, if the gym is loud, put on headphones and listen to music. I don’t want to be interrupted, since I have only 30 minutes to get my workout done.
Yesterday another member at the gym came up to me, while I was on the treadmill, and started talking to me about my experiences in law school.
Today one gym employee came up to me, while I was on the treadmill, and kept offering a towel to me.
I don’t want to talk about law school at 6:30am while I’m running! If I needed a towel, I would have gotten one!
I stopped my workout to talk to the other member, and I stopped the treadmill to tell the employee “no thanks” (after trying to ignore her, asking 5 times if I needed a towel).
So: OK to ignore people who interrupt you while on the treadmill?
Next time I will wear headphones so that people stay away, but this time, I wasn’t wearing any.
